Online Dating Profile

Q: You talk about an online profile having two segments: “Self-presentation” and “Request.” I have an easier time describing myself than I have requesting; but isn’t that because I KNOW me –and don’t precisely what I’m looking for? –Angie

A: Dear Angie, Yes, that’s part of it. But another part is that you may be used to trying to win a man, and therefore focus on the “Here’s why you should call me” part. Instead, I want you to focus on “Here’s what would be fun for me” part–the part that exercises your right to state what pleases you (as oppose to what might please a prospective date). Women tell me they find it hard to do this, as if stating their wants sounds too entitled, or too demanding, or too….whatever. (See? My point exactly. Be less concerned about “how it sounds” than what sounds good to you. This is YOUR forum, YOUR advertisement: You ARE entitled!
