Love? Not Actually

Q. Dear Goddess: I recently ran into a man I knew  twenty years ago. We hit it off, and at the end of a promising evening,  he said he’d call. He didn’t, so I called him–only to be greeted with a “Oh hi….I’ll call you soon.”  Should I now ignore his calls if he does call? –Confused

Dear Confused: Alas, your question is probably a moot point. Methinks this man either won’t or can’t call;  for owever promising the evening,  he’s either not truly interested or not available.. If  he didn’t make this clear to you before your phone call, he made it abundantly clear after. I don’t like it. If he does call, and does want to see you, ignoring the call won’t gain you anything.  But unless he came up with a truly fantastic explanation for both the time lag and his chilly response to your call–and I can’t imagine that he’ll do either–why would you go out with such a man?

Sorry to say it,  dear earth girl, but this sounds like the clear mark of what I call the Hit and Run Lover…..the man who loves to woo you but heads for the hills when it feels as if he might win you. At this point in your life,  what you want at the very least is a man who knows his mind. g
